Celebrate Spring with Art & Architecture at the 2016 Druid Hills Tour of Homes & Gardens and Makers Market, April 22-24, 2016 hosted by the Druid Hills Civic Association

Theo tin prweb.com

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) MARCH 22, 2016

Celebrate spring with art and architecture at the 2016 Druid Hills Tour of Homes & Gardens and Makers Market, April 22-24, 2016. “History Happens Here,” as the historic Druid Hills neighborhood comes alive, featuring six houses designed by renowned architects such as Neel Reid, the best of interior planning and decor, Southern fare, concerts featuring local musicians, as well as a Makers Market featuring arts and crafts by Georgia artists.

One of the six featured homes on this year’s tour is 940 Springdale Road, owned by Michele and Jimmy Etheredge. Designed by noted architect Neel Reid in 1918, “Rest Haven” was built for William Candler, youngest son of Coca-Cola founder Asa Candler. This Classical Revival house is characterized by gracious interior spaces and fine detailing. Since the owners purchased the residence in 2007, they have undertaken extensive restoration projects such as window and shutter restoration and the refinishing of original millwork and hardware. The study features oak paneling and a significant tiger oak fireplace mantel, and the granite foundation was recycled from the original Governor’s Mansion on Peachtree.

Another featured home is 1072 Oxford Road, owned by Ann and Stephen Yarbrough. This circa 1920 home exemplifies the eclectic styling and architectural detailing characteristic of the Druid Hills neighborhood. If ever a home reflected its owner’s design expertise, this residence surely does. Ann Yarbrough, a professional kitchen and bath designer, worked with her business partner Caroline Cooly to create surprising space and unexpected details that serve as a backdrop for the family’s many heirloom furnishings.

A third home featured in the tour this year is 880 Clifton Road is owned by Angela and Brian Orkin. Built circa 1927, the original owner, a local food vender, lost the house during the Depression. However subsequent owners have been good stewards; thus, the house is in near time-capsule condition. Featuring a mixture of English and Arts and Crafts architectural styles, the house retains much of its original millwork, unusual hardware, and lighting fixtures.

The 2016 tour events take place Friday, April 22, 1:00 – 5:00 PM; Saturday, April 23, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM; and Sunday, April 24, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Groups of six or more are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets may be purchased in advance on the website: druidhillstour.org. Proceeds from the tour and events benefit the Druid Hills neighborhood, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

World Patent Marketing Invention Team Launches Super Style Fitted Cover, A Household Invention That Brings Innovation And Function To The Table!

Theo tin prweb.com

World Patent Marketing Reviews A New Household Invention. Will Super Style Fitted Table Cover Be the Next World Patent Marketing Low Cost Success Story?

LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) MARCH 14, 2016

World Patent Marketing, a vertically integrated manufacturer and engineer of patented products, announces the Super Style Fitted Table Cover, a household invention offering a new and improved table top cover design.

“The Home Furnishings Industry is worth $31 billion,” says Scott Cooper, CEO and Creative Director of World Patent Marketing.”Consumers have increased their demand for new home furnishing products. Disposable income and new home ownerships will assure the industry’s growth.”

“Table covers have been used for a long time for many purposes,”says Jerry Shapiro, Director of Manufacturing and World Patent Marketing Inventions. “From adding aesthetics to a themed living space to simply adding protection to a table top surface, table covers are practical to have on hand. The Super Style Fitted Table Cover protects a table’s surface while adding a decorative style.”

The Super Style Fitted Table Cover is a household invention designed to provide the ultimate table cover top. Made of high quality and durable materials, it is made up of a table cover with elastic material carefully sewn along its edges and comes in various decorative designs. Just like any regular table top cover, this invention is able to protect table tops from acquiring scratches and damages due to accidental spills. It also provides a non-slippery surface to prevent items from slipping. But what makes the Super Style Fitted Table Cover unique is its special design with the use of elastic material on its edges. This way, the table top cover will never slip out or move when placed on the table.

“The Super Style Fitted Table Cover will put all those regular table cloth designs to shame,” says inventor Maria C. “This household invention eliminates the problem of having to constantly check if every portion is distributed equally on the table. But what is really amazing with its special design is that it prevents the table cloth from moving and causing accidental spills and other related accidents.”

Fay McKenzie, a restaurant owner from Los Angeles, CA, has this to say about the Super Style Fitted Table Cover: “We have a lot of families with young children who come into our small restaurant. When children keep on moving about, they sometimes cause accidents when they pull on the table top covers. But thanks to the Super Style Fitted Table Cover, it always stays in place.”

The Super Style Fitted Table Cover is a household invention which transforms an ordinary table into a decorative piece!

Theo tin prweb.com

Top lot of the sale was a 26-inch high under-glazed blue and white vase of hexagonal shape with a bulbous stomach and under-glazed six-character Qianlong reign mark on the base. Decorated with boughs of fruit and floral branches divided by arabesques and lotus sprays with Greek key scroll on the mouth and foot rims, this magnificent vase sold for $60,000 with buyer’s premium.

BEVERLY, MA (PRWEB) MARCH 10, 2016

Kaminski Auctions held a very successful Fine Asian Art and Antiques auctions on February 28, 2016. Bob Yang Kaminski’s Asian specialist brought together a wonderful selection of first time to the market porcelains and Chinese textiles that commanded the strong prices the pieces deserved. Interest in the two top porcelain lots saw buyers drive from far and wide to preview in person and the gallery was filled with Asian collectors the day of sale. Internet bidding was limited to $30,000 on the premium lots so the floor and phones were especially busy which made for a more exciting auction atmosphere.

Important Chinese and Asian porcelains, jade, silk embroidery, bronze, silver, furniture, and paintings were all presented and each category performed extremely well.

Among the best pieces in the sale were those from the Coleman Collection of Asian art from Columbus, Ohio including the premium lots, which were three outstanding Qing dynasty grand porcelains.

Top lot of the sale was a 26-inch high under-glazed blue and white vase of hexagonal shape with a bulbous stomach and under-glazed six-character Qianlong reign mark on the base.

Well-preserved sketches showing the condition of the vase in the mid 20th century established solid provenance, as well as documentation of an identical vase having been exhibited in the Musée Guimet, the Musée National des Arts Asiatiques in Paris, France and the Palace Museum of Beijing. The vase was purchased from an important estate in Denbighshire, Wales in November 1956.

Also from the Howard Coleman collection, a Grand Chinese blue and white Yen-Yen vase, 30 inches in height of a tall baluster form with ovoid body tapering to a flared foot and vibrantly painted all around with scholar figures in a rocky landscape sold for $36,000.
A large Chinese copper-red dragon fish bowl from the Coleman Collection with a six-character Kangxi reign mark on the base presented with its custom hardwood stand sold for $26,400.
